No More Tradeoffs:

Designing DX AC Systems to Meet ASHRAE’s IAQ and Energy Savings Standards

When designing air conditioning systems for schools, health care facilities, office space, and manufacturing processes, consulting engineers continually have trouble satisfying ASHRAE’s energy and indoor air quality (IAQ) standards 90.1 and 62.1, respectively. However, solutions have been developed to meet both standards, while limiting the operational conflicts and tradeoffs engineers’ typical face when trying to comply.

The technical brief reviews the problems consulting engineers encounter when addressing energy and IAQ standards with a direct expansion air conditioning system. It explores the advantages and disadvantages of available solutions, and reveals how making the right selection can improve a building’s energy efficiency and IAQ without compromising performance.
